A Freedom Deeper Than Independence
Two hundred fifty years ago, a nation declared itself free from an empire. But before there were fireworks over Philadelphia, there was a far greater liberation — not of a colony from a crown, but of the human heart from the dominion of sin. That freedom was not signed in ink. It was purchased in blood, sealed in an empty tomb, and it is offered still, tonight, to every soul who will receive it.
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
Galatians 5:1
"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
John 8:36
"Sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."
Romans 6:14
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
2 Corinthians 3:17
Every Spark, A Small Glory
Fireworks borrow their beauty from a light they didn't create. So do we. The glory in the sky tonight is a shadow of the greater glory that already lives in everyone who belongs to Christ.

The Same Power That Raised Him
This is not a call to try harder. It is an invitation to a Power already at work — the very power that split the tomb open from the inside.
"...the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead."
Ephesians 1:19–20
A firework cannot light itself. It waits for a spark it did not manufacture, and then it becomes something it could never be on its own. That is grace: not our effort, but His power, meeting our surrender.

Freedom Isn't Declared Once — It's Yielded Daily
Independence was declared in a single moment in 1776. But this freedom is renewed every day we choose to yield — laying our old allegiances down and letting His power have its way in us.
"Yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God."
Romans 6:13
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
James 4:7
"Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."
Galatians 5:16

Let Freedom Ring — In Us
Father, thank You for the freedom bought at great cost — by soldiers who bled for a nation, and infinitely more, by Your Son who bled for our souls. Tonight, as the sky fills with light, remind us that the same power that flung those stars into place, and the same power that raised Christ from the grave, lives in everyone who is Yours. We don't ask for strength to overcome sin in our own effort — we yield. Have Your way in us. Where we are bound, break the chain. Where we are dark, be the spark. In Jesus' name, Amen.
